For some, it also provided a connection to the ‘cloud chaser’ subculture and a sense of belonging to a community. Our results suggest that the complex social practices of e-cigarette use require further research to better understand the reasons why individuals adopt these diverse identities and engage in these associated behaviours. This could have important implications for health communication and policy.
